Most nutritionists advise that you have to let go of your snacks as a way of managing obesity. This is not as easy as it sounds, in most cases, you find yourself craving for potato chips or any other snacks and you end up eating them before you even realize that you are on a diet. The easier option is to replace the high-calorie snacks with lower calorie and healthier options. This is when you have to think of the soy crisps as the alternative.

There is no significant difference in taste when you compare the potato chips and the crisps made from the soybean flour. In fact, you may not even realize that you are replacing the fries and other snacks you are used to. With high sodium content and several nutritional values, the crisps are gaining popularity across the whole population; from gym goers, athletes, to housewives.

A single ounce serving contains 109 calories and 2 grams of fats. Of these, 0.3 grams are saturated fats. With a very low content of saturated fats, soy ranks top as one of the healthiest snacks. The reason is simple, the more the saturated fats consumed, the higher the chances of developing the heart diseases.

This leaves 1.6 grams of unsaturated fats. Since more unsaturated fats mean lower cholesterol level in the body, it implies that you are less risk of getting diabetes. As though this is not enough, the soy foods do not contain any Trans fats. Normally, the bad cholesterol in the bloodstream increases with an increase in Trans fats and in the same manner, the level of good cholesterol decreases with an increase in the Trans fats. As such, it offers a solution through minimizing Trans fats in the body.

The second consideration is their content of protein and fiber. A single ounce content of protein is 7.5 grams. The vitamin and the mineral content are also impressive. From one ounce alone, you will get 1.47 milligrams of iron, which is 8% of what an adult woman need and 18% of the requirement for an adult man. It also has 17% of the daily folic acid requirement and low amount of vitamins E and K.

However, their sodium content requires that you consult first. One ounce content of sodium is 239 milligrams, representing 10% of the daily limit for a healthy adult and 16% for those with heart diseases. In order to keep blood pressure normal, you have to keenly monitor the level of sodium intake.

There are several flavors to cater for different interests. The cheddar, barbecue, and salted flavors are common. The texture is crunchy and the taste is great. However, you are better off serving them with some healthy options like the fresh vegetable sticks, guacamole, or hummus.
