What An Emotional Eating Coach Does

By Joshua Foster

Diets come and go, and there is no doubt that it is more the mental aspect of this eating program which is difficult to maintain. It especially applies when you eat for emotional reasons. Many people find that they become addicted to food. They are drawn to chocolate and fries whenever there is a problem in their lives. This is obviously a big problem. This is where an emotional eating coach can do wonders for you.

You shall find that this is more of a lifestyle that you will get used to, rather than a diet. It is the mindset that will begin to change. You will work on the psychological aspect, asking yourself more about whether you are really hungry. You will find alternative ways in which you are able to cope with your emotions.

This is a way of comforting themselves. It makes them feel better just like drugs will make an addict feel better. Essentially, you become addicted to food and this is as dangerous as becoming addicted to drugs. People will play this down saying that food is not dangerous.

It is important to know what triggers you when you feel that you need to eat. When you feel these emotions come up, it is important to have something planned. It could be meditation or a source of mindfulness. You can have music downloaded on your phone. It means that wherever you are, you will be prepared for this.

You won't have to run into the nearest coffee shop because you know how to cope with this. Taking a few deep breaths, followed by a brief guided meditation with background music can ease your anxiety levels. You will eventually feel more calm and relaxed and realize that you are not actually hungry.

A coach in this department will be experienced and qualified to know more about the subject matter. They are equipped to know about the methods and the techniques which may differ from one client to the next. Some people will benefit from the mindful approach. Other people will begin with more practical aspects.

The mindful aspect to losing weigh has been very effective over the last couple of years. Most people with these sorts of problems have tried one diet after the next. But it is the mental aspect that sets them back every time. The mindful approach is so helpful because it trains your brain to help you know when you are hungry.

You will begin to ask yourself whether you really need that chocolate or whether you are simply going to eat it because it is a habit. Of course, it can take time to get to this point. The coach is there to offer support. You will check in every week and you will take note of your improvements, and notice how you have progressed over this time. You will also begin to discover what areas you need to work on. The relationship between the client and the coach are also most important.
