As an example, some supplements may contain recommended daily allowances, but some contain much higher, advanced quantities. Taking in insufficient quantities will provide little benefit, but too much can be harmful, so what is the solution?

The majority of supplements are produced to food-grade standards, as this is all that's needed to meet industry rules in the majority of countries. But, without the control and accuracy related to pharmaceutical grade manufacturing standards, it's very difficult to guarantee the efficiency of products and proportions of nutrition.

Our requirement for vitamins and minerals is now greater than ever due to the increasingly toxic environment that we live in. Environmental pollutants, toxins in the water supply and higher levels of radiation from the sun contribute to our increased need for vitamins. In addition, stress, lack of rest and poor food choices will boost free radical activity. The food choices that we make today are commonly devoid of the important antioxidants and minerals that we need for our bodies to function properly.

Low Glycemic Foods - Conditions such as Obesity and Diabetes are commonly a result of poor food choices. Typically, high calorific foods contribute to Obesity, but the role of high glycemic foods cannot be overlooked. High glycemic foods (high GI) are foods that sugar fastest once inside your body, such as sweets, cakes and refined carbohydrates (white bread, white pasta, etc). These types of foods cause sudden rises in blood sugar levels. As blood sugar levels drop, you will experiences a lack of energy and desires for high glycemic foods (carbohydrate cravings). If you regularly give in to your cravings, this will increase your food consumption. Over longer periods of time your body becomes less able to adjust to dramatic increases in blood sugar levels, which can in turn lead to the onset of type 2 Diabetes.

If you have weight loss goals or concerns about diabetes, then low glycemic, nutritionally balanced meal replacements and healthy snacking options can offer you assistance.
