The Playground Games That Children Like

By Enid Hinton

Playground activities are one of the many effective ways to be able to teach kids how to survive in life. Now if one is a teacher of preschool or kindergarten, he should make sure that the playground games that he would plan for the kids are good and also are related to lessons in life. Here are a few good ones that are both fun and educational at the same time.

Now tag is probably one of the most popular of all games because it is the easiest one to facilitate. Now in tag, there is one person who is the it and will try to chase other people in the game so that he can make another person the it. It is a game that is both fun and strenuous for children and will also teach them how to coordinate with others.

Of course another classic playground game would be none other than tug of war. In tug of war, the class is divided into two teams and both teams have to compete with each other by pulling a rope to their respective sides. Now this is a game that will teach children that no man is an island and teamwork is very important.

Of course there is also the game that is known as monkey in the middle. Now in this game, there are two groups of people in opposing sides and there is a person between them. The objective is to hit the person in the middle and the one in the middle has to avoid getting hit by the ball otherwise he will be out.

Now another game that needs quite a big number of players would be the game get the flag. Now in this game, the class would first be divided into two big teams that would each have their own respective flags. Now the whole objective of the game is for one to try to grab the flag of the opposing team and not get touched by any of them otherwise he will go to jail.

A less strenuous game but equally as fun one is known as croquet. Now croquet is all about the players being able to hit certain colored balls through colored hoops with a hammer. This will teach kids how to think tactically in order to make them smarter.

Now dodgeball is yet another great game but it is probably better for the older children who are more sporty. Dodgeball teaches quick thinking, teamwork, and encourages one to boost up his reflexes. Basically, the rules of the game is for a team to grab as many balls as possible and to hit the players of the opposing team with these balls until they are all out.

Now if one is a teacher, he can actually try out some of these games. Now it is also extremely important for the teacher to let the students know why these games are being played in the first place. Teaching the life lessons behind the activities is probably the most important part.
